decorated banquet facilities and an expanded catering menu, the Inn welcomes your
group to celebrate in style. Whether you need an intimate private dining gathering,
an overnight party, live music, and/or full use of the inn, the historic Benham Schoolhouse
Inn can make your family or corporate celebration spectacular.
Corporate Retreats
Looking for the ideal setting for your corporate retreat? The Benham Schoolhouse Inn
offers overnight retreat packages with private meeting space. Our Inn is the perfect
setting for your strategic planning, team-building or professional development retreat.
Up to 43 guests can be accommodated in the Inn s rooms and suites. Large event meeting
space is offered for up to 250 guests and conference rooms seat from 16 to 30 guests.
Free WiFi is accessible throughout the Inn, and rental projectors and screens are
also available.
Weddings
Up to 250 guests can be accommodated for wedding ceremonies and receptions in the
Great Room. Smaller receptions are often held in one of Inn s conference rooms. The
Inn s Event Coordinator will work with you in planning every aspect of your perfect
wedding.
The Benham United Methodist Church, adjacent to the Benham Inn, provides another perfect
setting for your mountain wedding. Many brides and grooms have their wedding ceremony
at this beautiful, historic church followed by a reception at the Inn. The church
is available for rent by contacting Linda Halcomb at 848-7320.
Church History - The Benham United Methodist Church was built and made ready for use
on May 1, 1912 by Wisconsin Steel Corporation of Chicago, Illinois. The building materials
were harvested from the virgin forests of the majestic Black Mountains surrounding
Benham. Several denominations began to attend services, worshiped together, shared
their beliefs, grew closer, and soon the Church became an important center for families
of Benham. Pastors were supplied by the YMCA in the earliest years and the Methodist
Church became the source of Pastors from the 1920s to the present date. The Community
Church became an important institution in the small mining town of Benham. In the
later 1920s, Wisconsin Steel decided to build a larger elementary and high school.
The chosen location was the area occupied by the Benham Church. The decision was made
to move the Community Church several yards east, elevate the building slightly, install
new stain glass windows and change the entrance to the center. The result was extraordinary.
This year, the Benham Community United Methodist Church celebrates 100 years of worship
and service.
Facility Rental
The Benham Schoolhouse Inn is the perfect place to hold your next event large or small.
Spaces that accommodate up to 250 are available for rental.
The Great Room 
The Great Room once served as the school s gymnasium but is now a beautiful banquet
hall seating up to 250 guests.
Founder s Room
Located on the second floor of the Inn, the Founder s Room features a unique, secluded
meeting area for up to 16 guests seated around a large conference table. More guests
can be accommodated in this room for small parties, showers, birthday parties or other
small events.
Conference Room
Located on the first floor of the Inn, the Conference Room seats up to 30 guests.
Room accommodates various table arrangements customized to your event or meeting.
The Reading Room
Located within the Inn s spire, a beautiful architectural ornament atop the old school
house. Relax and enjoy books and magazines or check out games and puzzles to enjoy
in your room. The Reading Room features an ornate glass chandelier, comfortable wing-back
chairs and a view of the historic town of Benham. Perfect setting for romantic dinner
for two.
