Recollections - Senior Citizen Program
Recollections is the new Senior Citizens Program Initiative developed by the Kentucky Coal Museum.
Currently operated as a pilot study, Recollections, will meet monthly for a 4- Month trial basis. Meetings will take place on Thursdays
and last for approximately 2.5 hours. Each monthly meeting will include a guided tour
of a selected area of the museum, a hands on collections activity and a presentation
from a special guest on a topic designed specifically for our maturing locals. Lunch
will also be provided to each participant.
At the conclusion of the trial period, all participants who have attended all four
sessions, will receive a complimentary ticket for the Portal 31 Underground Mine Tour.
Who Can Attend?
Even though our program is specifically designed for those 55+, our meetings are open to anyone. Our programs are sure to interest folks at every age level. We encourage you to invite your friends and your family to join you at the museum.
What If I Miss A Meeting?
We would love for you to attend each meeting, but we understand that sometimes there
are schedule conflicts. If you miss a meeting, we hope to see you at the next one!
How Much Does It Cost?
Each attendee is asked to pay $10.00 at each
meeting. This fee covers museum admission, registration for the special presentation,
and lunch.
Become A Volunteer!
We would like to encourage any Recollections participant to consider becoming a volunteer
at the museum. Volunteering your time and talents is another fun and meaningful way
to show your support of the museum. Contact us today to learn more about what opportunities
are currently available.
