Where to Start

If you ve never been to the KY Coal Museum, you are in for a real treat! The museum is located in Benham, a former coal camp in Harlan County.

While you are in town, you may want to consider some of the other exciting attractions and quality lodging that Harlan County has to offer. You could easily plan a weeklong vacation centered around at least one day at the museum! Make sure that you review our upcoming events and activities to decide the best time to come.

 

For Your Convenience

Below are some of the amenities at the KY Coal Museum. Remember, our Guest Services Team is ready to assist you with any needs you may have during your visit. The Guest Services Information Center is located near the building s main entrance.

Strollers & Wheelchairs

Guest Services offers both strollers and wheelchairs for the convenience of all visitors on a first-come, first-served basis.

Restrooms

Restrooms are available on the museum s first and second levels.

Photography

Guests are welcome to photograph and record all museum exhibits except for video presentations.

Animals

All service animals are freely admitted to the KY Coal Museum. However, pets are not permitted in the museum.
