Quick facts about the KY Coal Museum
The Museum welcome aproximately 6,000 visitors each year.
Visitors from all 50 states have toured the Museum and Portal in addition to people
from Australia, Canada, China, Egypt, England, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary,
Ireland, Japan, Jordan, Mexico, Namibia, Nova Scotia, Philippines, Porte Rico, Slovakia,
Sweden, Wales
The Museum and Portal have been featured in more than 55 state and national publications

The attraction has been recognized as recipients of the Tri-City Chamber of Commerce
History Award, Harlan County People s Choice Award and the The American Council of
Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Kentucky s Grand Conceptor Award and the Top 3 Award
by ACEC for excellence in engineering on the national level.
Students from 50 Kentucky counties, representing more than 100 schools have taken
part in field trips to the Museum.
